When I left my corporate job, I held onto that mode. My to-do list continued to dictate my life. In my head, I heard these questions daily – “Who am I without all the doing? Who am I without my job title?” It’s taken me two years (and counting) to realise – I am not my activities or job title or what I do. What I do is instead an expression of and outlet for who I am and what I hope to bring to the world.
I am not my activities or job title…
what I do is instead an expression of and outlet for who I am.
I try and pay more attention now to where I am acting FROM, rather than the externals of what I am doing and achieving.
As counter intuitive as it is, so much happens when you finally pause. Mindfulness has taught me to reconnect with who I am and who I want to be, to listen for and trust the quiet voice of inspiration, creativity, joy, self-care and deeper meaning. For leaders looking for deeper purpose and true achievement, this could be a real game changer – to allow the noise of the world to settle so that you can truly pay attention to what matters, and thereby, live up to your fullest potential.
Is the ‘doing’ running your life or are you? To pay attention to what really matters, pausing through Mindfulness is no longer optional.
